It will be a fun day out for adults, children and four-legged friends. As well as the walk there will be free face painting for the kids, merchandise stalls, sausage sizzle, cake stall, face painting, obedience demonstration and dog agility
All proceeds will be used to make life better for the animals at the RSPCA shelter in Mort Street, Katoomba and support our local education programs for children and adults.
An Opportunity to help our less fortunate four-legged friends..
"Thanks to the work of the dedicated shelter staff and volunteers, the Blue Mountains RSPCA shelter has by far the lowest rate of animal euthanasia of any RSPCA shelter in New South Wales," said Shelter Manager, Michael Puzicha.
"A very high percentage of the animals that come to the shelter are either found new homes or become part of the shelter's menagerie of cats, dogs, horses, goats, pigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks. We certainly cater to 'All creatures great and small'.
"We hope the local community will get behind our Million Paws Walk so we can provide even more assistance to our animals in need," he said.

The Million Paws Walk was inaugurated in Queensland in 1994. The idea came from Dr Cam Day, who was the RSPCA Queensland Operations Manager and Veterinarian at that time. Dr Day believed a special event involving animals of all types walking together could be a 'Win-Win-Win', situation, providing a fun day out for pets and their owners, while promoting responsible pet ownership and raising much needed funds for the RSPCA.
Dr Day also saw the potential to have one million paws walking together (belonging to 250,000 animals), effectively raising $1 million dollars for other disadvantaged animals. One of the aims was to multiply the financial benefits to the RSPCA by owners gathering sponsorship for their pets.
Dr Day's vision for the Million Paws Walk was a national and ultimately, international, event for animals and their 'families' worldwide.
The Million Paws Walk is an RSPCA event designed to treat your ‘best friend’ to the best day out of the year and support the important work of the RSPCA
The 2012 Million Paws Walk will be held nationally on Sunday May 20th, 2012.
