The Rotary Club of Upper Blue Mountains Sunrise are busy preparing for a big fundraiser weekend on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th March at Maurice Cooper & Kerry McKenzie’s property “Bronte” , Bullaburra.
“We are not re inventing the wheel”, said President Norm Hill,” we are using the format of my previous Rotary Club, Sylvania, which presented the weekend at Robertson in the Southern Highlands”
Saturday is for the Kids living with Cancer and their families. We expect around 120.
After morning tea at “Bronte”, we plan to take them by bus to see The Three Sisters and the sights of The Blue Mountains then back to “Bronte” for a BBQ lunch with entertainment for the kids. The renowned and talented artist Pat Drummond has put together a “kids” show for us and has also donated his time on Saturday to perform for the kids and their families. Ollie the Clown will be there, Face Painting Horse rides Tennis and Egg Hunt just to name a few of the activities planned for the families.
Sunday is the “Big” Fundraiser day with a “Long Lunch”, Entertainment, Auction, Silent Auctions and Raffles .Guests will be limited to 200 for this inaugural day, and the tickets will be pre sold.
We are still seeking sponsors and donations for this day – the aim is to raise enough money to send 30 Kids to Camp – The cost per child with a carer to attend camp is $650.
Camp Quality is a NON Government Funded organisation which assists families living with cancer. They provide social occasions where “like” families can spend time together as well as run “Camp” holidays for the child living with cancer.
Its not uncommon for more than 1 child in the family to have cancer.
If you would like further information on how you can help us to help kids and families living with cancer, no matter how small please call Norm or Jo Hill on 47 881122.
Reservations now being taken for The Long Lunch, $50 per person, Cash Credit Card or Cheque,
