Starlit Sea CD by Amber King and Maddy Williams. Megalong Valley, Blue Mountains music.

Amber and Maddy’s CD “Starlit Sea” is primarily of the folk genre. The original songs are a combination of vocals and acoustic guitar. As well as seven original songs (of which Amber wrote the lyrics, and Maddy composed the guitar music), the CD features a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi” and a musically recomposed version of the traditional folk song “Silver Dagger”. We would like to thank Bob Yates and John Summers of Lee Street Studios for giving us the opportunity to record our first CD. This is the first of what we hope to be many CDs.

Amber King and Maddy Williams have both grown up in the Blue Mountains, and are both completing their final year in the HSC. Amber took vocal lessons when she was younger, and was a member of the Erskineville Vocal Ensemble, performed many times at the Sydney Opera House. She then joined the Sing 2001 choir, and from there she sang at the Opening Ceremony at the Sydney Olympic Games.

Maddy began playing guitar at age 9 at Megalong Public School. She formed a rock-band in High School and then resumed guitar lessons with Gene Pool in Katoomba. She has performed for numerous school assemblies at Lithgow High School.

They have been playing together for about four years, and began writing their own compositions in their second year as a team. Their music is strongly influenced by Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. They have performed at numerous “Red Faces” nights in Megalong Valley, and talent and variety nights, as well as some charity events throughout the Blue Mountains. More recently they performed at the “Journey Café” as part of the Blue Mountains Folk Festival. They recorded “Starlit Sea” on 17th January 2004.
